Can leadership be taught and learned or is a person born with it?
There are people who are more wired than others to put themselves in leadership positions, but there is a great deal of research that you can think about leadership and self-awareness like muscles. You have to work them, and you have to work hard to develop them.
If you think about iconic leaders, when you dig deep into their practices and into what they did in terms of self-reflection and introspection and learning and listening, they all worked very very hard on becoming great leaders.
So, no, I don’t believe that leaders are born great.
Leaders become great through learning, serving, listening, feedback, dedication.
